Grouping products into categories helps users to navigate better and find the products they are looking for with ease in a more organized manner. A product can belong to multiple categories. For example, Coffee mugs can be added under the categories of both Gifts and Kitchen appliances.

When you add a new product, you may assign a category to it. So, before adding a new product it is necessary to create the required categories for the store.

Create A Category In ZenBasket:

In ZenBasket you can create a simplified category structure. The main group is called a Category and the divisions of the category are referred to as sub-categories.

  1. To create a Category in ZenBasket, click on the Categories sub-menu from the Products menu.

  2. Click the +Add Category button to add a new Category.

  3. Enter the Category Name, Keyword, Parent Category( if the category created is a subcategory), Description and Upload an image that best describes the Category. Accepted formats for images are Jpeg, Jpg, Png, Gif & WebP.

  4. Enable Category Availability if you want this Category to be displayed on your store’s website.

  5. The next step is used to add relevant products to the category. Click on the Products tab.

  6. Click on the Add Product button.

  7. A list of existing products will appear as a checklist. Choose the products to be added to this category by entering the product name in the search bar, or click on the Sort icon to sort the products based on the list of sorting options shown. Finally, click Save.

Using Add products:

You can directly add products to a category from the product page while adding new products to the store.

  1. Select the All Products sub-menu from the Products menu.

  2. Click on the Add Product button.

  3. Enter the product details and in the General tab, choose the product category from the drop-down. A single product may have more than one category.

This will automatically assign the products to the corresponding categories.

Click Save button.

Editing Categories

  1. Select the Categories sub-menu from the Products menu.

  2. Click on the Edit icon under the Action tab to edit the Category and Products assigned to the category.

  3. Edit the details like Category Name, Image, description, Parent category and category availability.

  4. Click on the Products Tab to Add or Remove products assigned to a Category and then, Click on the Save the changes.

Deleting a Category

  1. Select the Categories sub-menu from the Products menu.

  2. Click on the Remove Category option under the Action tab to delete the Category.

    (Note: To bulk remove all categories, select all categories and click the Remove button to delete them at once.)

Sorting Categories

  1. Select the Categories sub-menu from the Products menu.

  2. Click on the Sort Iconto sort the category based on the list of sorting options shown.

Share Categories:

  1. Select the Categories sub-menu from the Products menu.

  2. Click on the Share option under the Action tab to share the Category on various social media platforms.

Import Categories

Categories can also be added in bulk using the Import option.

  1. Select the Categories sub-menu from the Products menu.

  2. Click on Import

  3. A pop-up window appears. Click on the Sample template link to download an excel file.

    The excel file consists of three sheets namely, Category, Instructions and Dropdown.

  4. In the category sheet, enter details like Category Name, Description, Keyword, Parent Category Name, Category Availability, and Image Name. Save the changes.

  5. The drop-down sheet consists of the parent category list for reference.

  6. Click Import. Click on Add File. Browse and select the excel file that contains all the category details from the computer. Click Upload. Now, all the data in the excel sheet gets converted into categories in the online store.

Export categories

  1. Select the Categories sub-menu from the Products menu.

  2. To export the Categories, click on the Export Icon to download an excel file. While exporting you have to choose one of two export options: Export all data in the current page - To Export all the Categories for a particular range mentioned at Item per page Export all the data - To download all the Categories without any range.

  3. An excel file containing all the details of pre-existing categories will be downloaded. Save the changes made.

  4. Click on Import. Click on Add File. Browse and select the excel file that was edited, from the computer. Click Upload. Now, all the changes in the excel sheet get reflected in the online store.
