Importing Products Using Excel in ZenBasket

If your previous platform doesn’t support API migration or you prefer to upload products manually, ZenBasket allows you to import your store data using an Excel file. This method is ideal for smaller product catalogs or when you want full control over your product details during migration.

Before you begin, make sure you’ve created your store in ZenBasket. You’ll need an active store setup to import and manage your products successfully.

Step 1: Download the Product Import Template

ZenBasket provides a ready-to-use Excel template to help you organize product information correctly before importing.

How to Download:

  1. Log in to your ZenBasket Dashboard.

  2. Go to Products → All Products.

  3. Click the Import icon at the top right.

  4. Choose Product Import Type → Excel.

  5. Click Download Template to get the sample Excel file.

In the downloaded file:

  • The Products tab includes columns for details like product name, brand name, short description, maximum order quantity, unit count, featured images, and more.

  • The Instructions tab provides detailed guidance for entering product information correctly.

Step 2: Prepare Your Excel File

Before uploading, ensure your product data is complete and accurate.

Fill in the Required Columns:

  • Include all essential details such as product name, description, pricing, stock levels, categories, variants, and image URLs.

  • Each column in the Excel template is designed to capture specific information required for your products to display correctly in your store.

Tip: Do not change the column headers. Ensure that price, stock quantity, and other numeric fields follow your store’s formatting settings to avoid upload errors.

Step 3: Import the Excel File

Once your Excel file is ready, upload it to ZenBasket.

How to Import:

  1. In your ZenBasket Dashboard, go to Products → All Products.

  2. Click the Import icon again.

  3. Select Excel File Upload.

  4. Enter the Short Description in the provided description space.

  5. Click Add File, then select and upload your Excel file.

  6. ZenBasket will process your data and display a Success message once the import is complete.

Step 4: Check Imported Product Status

After the import:

  1. Go to your Dashboard to view product import status - Processing, Completed, or Completed with Errors.

  2. Click on the Completed status to open the Import Logs page.

  3. Review the imported products with their import date and time.

  4. Under the Actions tab, click View Logs to see any import error details.

Incorrect Column Names Always download the latest import template from ZenBasket before starting. Copy-paste your data into it instead of editing old templates to avoid header mismatches.
Missing Images Double-check that all image URLs are accessible online and end with supported formats (e.g., .jpg, .png).
Blank or Incorrect Field Values Fill in all mandatory fields like Product Name, Price, and Stock Quantity. Use the same data format specified in the Instructions tab.
Import Failed or Partial Uploads Check the Import Logs to identify which rows failed. Fix the highlighted rows in your Excel sheet and re-upload only the corrected data.
